Toyota offers bonuses 12/17/2007
Boat-based contingency award programs have been around seemingly forever. In 2008, Toyota will offer the first truck-based program, with cash prizes available to anglers competing in the Bassmaster Classic all the way down to the 92 Bassmaster Weekend Series regular-season events.

The program, called Toyota Trucks Bonus Bucks, hasn't been officially announced yet (official rules and registration forms should be available in a few weeks), but some of its specifics have trickled out. To win a contingency award, an angler must be the registered owner or lessee of a 2007 or newer Toyota Tundra or Sequoia and must have registered for the program prior to fishing a contingency-paying Bassmaster Tournament Trail event.

The payout schedule is as follows:

> Bassmaster Classic (one event) – $7,500 to the highest-placing eligible entrant; $2,500 to the 2nd-highest placing eligible entrant.

> Bassmaster Elite Series (11 events) – $3,000 to the highest-placing eligible entrant; $2,000 to the 2nd-highest-placing eligible entrant.

> Bassmaster Opens (six events) – $1,500 to the highest-placing eligible entrant; $1,000 to the 2nd-highest-placing eligible entrant.

> Women's Bassmaster Tour Championship (one event) – $1,500 to the highest-placing eligible entrant; $1,000 to the 2nd-highest-placing eligible entrant.

> Women's Bassmaster Tour (four events) – $1,000 to the highest-placing eligible entrant; $500 to the 2nd-highest-placing eligible entrant.

> Bassmaster Weekend Series Championship (one event) – $1,500 to the highest-placing eligible entrant.

> Bassmaster Weekend Series Divisional (32 events) – $500 to the highest-placing eligible entrant.

> Bassmaster Weekend Series regular season (92 events) – $250 to the highest-placing eligible entrant.

The program also contains a BASS Federation Nation component that will pay $500 to each eligible state team member (up to 14 per state) and $1,000 to each eligible National Championship qualifier (one per state). At the National Championship, the two highest-placing eligible entrants will receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively. The six Federation Nation qualifiers for the Bassmaster Classic are also eligible for the Classic contingency payments.

Matching funds for Federation Nation state programs will also be available. Those range from $250 for each eligible state team member, up to $3,750 if a state's eligible entrant is the highest-placing finisher among all anglers at the Classic.
